POSITIONS: Teachers – Expressions of Interest for both temporary and ongoing positions – Middle School (Years 7 and 8 in 2019)

POSITION DETAILS:

Mother Teresa Catholic College opened in January 2014. The College will have approximately 700 student enrolments in 2019, ranging from 3yo Kindergarten to Year 8, progressing each year to a K-12 co-educational College.

In our Junior School, Inquiry Learning (known as ‘Investigations’ in Kindergarten to Yr. 2 and ‘Education Research Projects (ERPs)’ in Yrs. 3-6) has been a hallmark of the early and primary years of schooling at our college.

Our first secondary students (four home-groups of Year 7) commenced this year in new secondary buildings in a variety of contemporary learning spaces where they engage in multi-disciplinary, challenge-based learning which reflect the learning intentions and outcomes of the West Australian Curriculum.

In 2019 we are expecting to have five home groups of Yr. 7 students (with approximately three-fifths of those students new to MTCC) and four home-groups of Yr. 8 students.

The core learning areas are Religious Education, English, Mathematics and Science. The sub-core learning-areas are HASS, Indonesian and PE/Health, with Technology integrated across all learning areas.

A comprehensive elective program including Design and Technology, Music, Drama, Dance, Food Technology, Visual Arts and Textiles is offered in specialist facilities.

In Middle School (Years 7 and 8 in 2019), Challenged–based Learning (CBL) is offered as a natural progression of Inquiry Learning for the secondary students. CBL occurs in two double-periods each week. This transformational way of learning is especially suited to developing the ‘5Cs’ essential for 21st Century learning and life beyond school for our students: Creativity, Critical Reflection, Communication, Collaboration and Citizenship. Embracing technology, collaborative practices and digital media in creative learning spaces, our learning community of students, staff and parents are flourishing in a new school built for the world of today – and tomorrow.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
Expressions of Interest are invited from experienced, creative and flexible teachers of core and elective learning areas. We seek teachers with a generous, pioneering spirit, who will continue to develop our vibrant, new and rapidly growing learning community.

Expressions of Interest must address the Selection Criteria, include a curriculum vitae, include the names and contact details of two professional referees and a priest referee, and clearly state the following information related to the position of interest:

1) The specific teaching areas of expertise
2) Part-time and/or full-time status
3) Temporary and/or permanent positions.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
Successful applicants will need to:
• Have a strong and active personal faith commitment
• Be passionate about teaching and committed to continuous professional growth and development
• Be dedicated to the advancement of each student’s holistic development and committed to providing the highest standard of care and education
• Be willing to be involved in the life of the College, including involvement in out-of-school activities
• Be flexible, enthusiastic and able to work collaboratively with colleagues and participate in inter-disciplinary planning and pedagogy.
• Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, communication skills and proficiency in integrating technology into the daily classroom environment
• Have knowledge of and willingness to embrace and facilitate inquiry-learning pedagogy and be involved in the Challenge-Based Learning sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• Relevant four-year tertiary qualifications
• Religious Education teachers require Accreditation to Teach Religious Education

At Mother Teresa Catholic College we work as a team to deliver a holistic education to our students.
