Defence School Mentor

POSITION:                 DEFENCE SCHOOL MENTOR

                                     (Temporary 0.3FTE/ 1.5 days per week)

START DATE:            18 March 2019

FINISH DATE:           31 December 2019

 

POSITION DETAILS:

The occupant of this position will provide information and support and develop a range of activities for dependents of Defence members and families to ease the impact of mobility and service related parental absence.

The DSM is an employee of Mother Teresa Catholic College and is responsible to the principal or nominee for everyday activities.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

The successful applicant will have:

  • Sound communication skills both oral and written, and the ability to communicate effectively with primary school aged children, school principal and staff, parents, Defence members and their families
  • Demonstrated ability to organise own work, set priorities, meet deadlines, work independently and as a team-member and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to plan, organise and deliver activities and resources relating to the needs of Defence families
  • Ability to acquire quickly an understanding of the operations of the school
  • Possession of a current driver’s licence
  • Previous personal experience of membership of the defence force or connection with defence families is desirable

 

CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

Certificate 111 Education Support (preferred)
