Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Caregivers.

Earlier this term, I shared with you that Mother Teresa Catholic College is undertaking a review of our existing Leadership structure.

I am delighted to announce to the MTCC community our new structure and appointments to these roles:

Joe Sciorilli: Vice Principal

An experienced Catholic school leader, Joe steps into the Vice Principal role with a strong K–12 experience, including a secondment to Mother Teresa Catholic College is Term 2, 2025. Joe is currently Deputy Principal: Curriculum & Learning at Ursula Frayne College and has implemented initiatives such as a college-wide Teacher Learning & Reflection program and strengthened senior pathways. At Ursula Frayne, Joe has reimagined parent engagement and integrated digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams and SEQTA to improve communication. Joe has a strong Catholic Identity. Joe has a Master of Religious Education and a Master of Educational Administration. Relational, faith-centred and improvement-driven, Joe focuses on teacher capacity, clear systems and high expectations for every learner.

Deputy Principal: Teaching and Learning (Year 7 – 12): Melanie Caddick

Melanie joins us from St Luke’s College, Karratha, where she serves as Deputy Principal 7 – 12 with responsibility across pedagogy, curriculum, and whole-school administration. Melanie has recently led the creation of St Luke’s Vision for Learning and leads the Teaching & Learning Action Team, which focused on embedded evidence-informed practice within the classroom. Melanie holds a Master’s degrees from UWA (High Distinction) and Notre Dame (Religious Education), and further postgraduate study in Mental Health and Wellbeing. 

Dean of Curriculum: Dryw Edwards

Already a member of MTCC, Dryw currently leads our Head of School (Years 10–12). Dryw brings 23 years in Catholic education, including 21 in leadership. Dryw holds a Master of Education (Leadership & Management) and a Professional Certificate in Instructional Leadership and is accredited to lead Religious Education. 

Deputy Principal: Community (Year 7 – 12): Naomi Larsen

Naomi joins us from Corpus Christi College, having held roles as both Deputy Principal Community (K–12) and Head of Community (7–12). A relational leader, Naomi is part of CEWA’s Educating with a Mission Lens program. Naomi co-led the implementation of the Berry Street Education Model and designed a new Student Engagement Procedure aligned to CEWA’s Wellbeing and Child Safe frameworks, while strengthening parent–school partnerships through targeted engagement, behaviour, and wellbeing initiatives. She holds a Master of Education (Leadership & Management) and a Professional Certificate in Education (Positive Education).

Head of Junior School (PreK-6): Linley Waters

Linley is currently Head of Primary at St Joseph’s School, Northam, with nearly two decades of K–6 (and K-12) experience across leadership and classroom roles. She is passionate in leading teaching and learning, data-informed literacy improvement (including Acadience and MultiLit), and staff development, and has implemented effective wellbeing and behaviour frameworks. Linley’s leadership has led formation initiatives and community events, and her team-focused approach has earned recognition including a Quality Catholic Education (QCE) Award with Holy Cross College. Linley holds a Master of Education (Leadership & Management).

Gemma Johnston: Assistant Head of Junior School (Pre-K–2)

Already in the role as an Early Years leader, Gemma brings over 10 years’ experience strengthening teaching, wellbeing and family partnerships. Gemma’s educational pedagogy is evidence-based, embedding Walker Learning and Sounds-Write. Gemma has also restructured timetables to protect daily literacy blocks, and lifting early reading and phonological awareness. Gemma applies the Berry Street Education Model and restorative practices to build regulation and classroom culture. Strong in her Catholic Identity through age-appropriate liturgies and strong parish links, Gemma leads NQS processes, timetabling, and staff mentoring/induction, growing teacher capacity and ensuring consistent PK–2 practice. Gemma’s calm, relational leadership and data-informed decision-making will continue to enrich learning and community in our Junior School. Gemma also holds a Master of Education (Early Childhood & Care).

Aaron Doulton: Assistant Head of Junior School (Years 3–6)
Aaron joins MTCC with 15 years in Catholic education, most recently as Student Leadership & Ministries Leader and Year 6 teacher at Assumption Catholic Primary School, Mandurah. Aaron brings strong faith leadership, coordinating parish-led sacramental programs, leading liturgies, and guiding Mini Vinnies/MJR student ministries. His teaching pedagogy is data-informed and evidence-based. Passionate about student wellbeing, Aaron has embedded trauma-informed practices via the Berry Street Education Model and helped deliver a CEWA-recognised mindfulness initiative that funded a sensory garden. Aaron plans on commencing a Master of Education (Leading Education) in 2026.
