Year 12 Outdoor Ed Camp

Recently Our Year 12 General Outdoor Education Camp was held in Margaret River.

Arriving to Contos in the afternoon on Tuesday we quickly set up camp and the headed down to Augusta for an afternoon session of fishing in the blackwod river, Ethan lifted hopes catching a small butter fish which we used for bait, sadly the fish weren’t interested!

An early morning on day 2 started at 6am before heading back to Augusta for a surfing session, where students paddled across the blackwood river before enjoying the rolling waves of coming in off the great southern ocean. We then headed north for a ‘never ending walk’ along the cape to cape track. Students resilience was trested during the walk as the conidtions deteriorated and rain was constant with 12mm over the 3 hour trek. Some tired wet campers arrived for the night at Ellensbrook campsite and bedded down early.

The final day of camp saw the students dropped off at Cowarmup and ride the Wadandi track to Woodjitup MTB Park. The trail was wet and flooded in parts but was fun riding through the puddles! The trails at Woodjitup were lots of fun especially the downhills! A piece of luxury awaited at Gracetown Caravan Park for our final night where we had for the first time in 3 days Hot and Cold Showers and flushing toilets!

The year 12 GOED Class, showed real grit, determination and the spirit of jesus to get through what was arguably the most challenging camp they have done. Thank you to Mr Norris, Ms Oberman, Ms Cardoso and Mr Humble for making the camp unforgettable.
