KIC iCAREER Graduation
Congratulations to three of our Year 10 students — Hugo C, Charlie L, and Max S — who recently graduated from the iCAREER project, facilitated by the Kwinana Industries Council (KIC).
The graduation evening was a special celebration where students presented their learning journey to parents, caregivers, school representatives, and industry leaders. Throughout the program, they engaged in a range of workshops and activities including team building, career pathway exploration, resume writing, interview techniques, and health and wellbeing. They also visited the Construction Futures Centre, Coogee Chemicals, Mineral Resources, and Kwinana Energy, and participated in volunteering with Perth NRM.
Participation in programs like iCAREER not only provides invaluable real-world experience but can also contribute towards student achievement of their Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).
Our students shared some highlights from their experience:
Hugo particularly enjoyed the volunteering opportunities, especially cleaning up beaches to help the environment. He valued the friendships he made and the teamwork skills he developed, and he strongly recommends the program for future Year 10s.
Charlie found the site visits inspiring, as they gave him a firsthand look into trades and industry pathways within the Kwinana Industrial Area.
Max especially enjoyed the site tour at Mineral Resources, where he experienced the fabrication workshop. He felt the program provided clear insight into different trades and helped guide his career aspirations.
We are incredibly proud of Hugo, Charlie, and Max for embracing this opportunity with such enthusiasm and commitment. Well done boys — we wish you every success as you continue to grow in your future career pathways!
